Day 4 of the New Year and my Resolutions are going well so fingers crossed I’m creating positive habits and will maintain them! Over the weekend I purchased a secondplanner {this is the one I’m using as my work/daily planner} for blog stuff and I have loved filling in the days with upcoming posts, giveaways, and collaborations. January is going to be a very busy month for A Midwestern Mix. I won’t say much more on the topic except that I’m incredibly excited: STAY TUNED for big things to come! 🙂 Alright, alright, enough with the ‘new me’ stuff and onto what most of you probably care about much more than my ramblings…my outfit details. As most of you know from my Instagram and Snapchat (follow me: kristinkruse) posts recently, Kyle and I were lucky enough to spend 10 days with my parents and 2/3 sisters in Texas over the holidays. Besides absolutely LOVING getting to be in the same zip code as everyone, I was also a major fan of the weather. I mean how can I complain about it being in the upper-60s on Christmas Day!? Good weather meant that I was able to minimize my layers and maximize use of more Fall-like pieces. Enter this faux-leather jacket from SheIn. It packs an edgy punch despite its small $$ tag.
My typical style is more classic and simple than biker chic so wearing this took a bit of getting use to. I kept seeing myself in mirrors and windows and thinking ‘not sure this looks right on you, Kristin’ despite getting compliments on the jacket/flats combo. I love a good leather or faux-leather piece {like this jacket, this skirt, & this vest I have} but I tend to steer clear of black. Ironic since my closet would lead to believe I’m unaware of many colors other than black. To make sure I was still ‘me’ in the outfit, I threw on my trusty striped tank {sold-out but this is the same one/different color–I have a size 1!} and well-loved destructed denim. This look is the perfect alternative to a usual cardigan/skinny jean combo for a shopping day or works well for drinks with friends. I can also easily taken this jacket into the office topping a simple sheath dress or to date night with black denim.
