Wow, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve given y’all a proper Monday Musings. So here I am with Monday Musings – Vol 27 and the pledge to be better about the consistency. For a while I was rocking & rolling. And then life reached out and slapped me in the face. Like REALLY hard. But I’m passionate about writing and using this as an outlet. And I have missing talking to you all via this medium. So here we go again…
How I am doing…
So I’ll start by assuming you all read THIS POST from last Monday. But if you didn’t, I suggest starting there. To keep things short, I’m not doing so well. Honestly, yesterday being Mother’s Day was pretty brutal. It’s one thing to not have any earth side littles to love on. But it’s an entirely different thing to be going through a miscarriage ON Mother’s Day. So yeah, lets just say I have never been as excited for a Monday as I was for today. A 7:30am blood draw showed my HCG level has dropped to 119. Which that in itself is a good sign. But it just means we continue to wait. And waiting is becoming harder by the day. Actually, sometimes harder each hour. Once that gets to 0, it could be 4ish weeks until I get my period. Please pray it comes sooner.
And it’s looking like we will never know WHAT exactly happened inside my body last month. Because no one seems to really care. Like, my levels are going down so clearly there’s no viable pregnancy so what does it matter WHY there isn’t? But I FREAKING CARE. I’m so tired of ‘unexplained’ infertility. It’s some bullshit. Because there is CLEARLY a reason. That reason apparently is too tedious to uncover, so they slap THAT label on it. Well that label isn’t good enough for me anymore. But I’m not sure we’ll ever really know. So that’s how I’m doing. Tired. Confused. Scared. And thankful, too. Thankful for Kyle. And a very, VERY supportive group of family & friends.
Who we’re celebrating today…
Beckett! My original best bud. The OG of the family of pets. King of the castle. I got this good boy in September of 2010. Just a few weeks before I ‘got’ Kyle as an official boyfriend. Named after former Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett. Because what else was I going to name him?! Also…LOL to how popular the name has become for peoples’ kids. Sorry but I used it first đ Anyway, today Beckett turned 11. And he’s being spoiled, per usual. He’s been through 5 moves, 4 different cities and countless highs & lows. Also, in case you’re wondering, Beckett is going to live FOREVER. Because I need him to. He’s a good big bro to Cabo and loves all the nieces/nephews. I can’t wait to see him go from sleeping in the middle of the couch to sleeping in front of a crib one day.
So please help me say HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKETT. He says THANK YOU all and in lieu of gifts would like you all to donate to a much larger couch for him to sleep on!
What I’m looking forward to…
Warm weather being here to stay and long runs. Long runs for now. They’re how I best clear my mind, and oooooh how I’ve needed it cleared lately. Something about the sun feeling warm, despite some cooler-than-ideal temps, makes me instantly at peace. It’s like my mood is a direct reflection of the UV index. And I have zero shame in admitting that. At least I’m honest, right? Because having the windows open overnight, my freckles popping and the ability to walk around barefoot is what I need right now. If you see my in biker shorts, an oversized sweatshirt & no shoes, mind your business. It’s just me thriving. Living my best life as my dad would despise me saying… Anyone else made for summer? I sure hope so!
Random Ramblings…
- Haley & Smith came to stay with my Friday evening and we went to Junkstock! I cannot believe I’ve lived in Omaha for 9.5 years and never once had been. It was…exactly what I expected it to be. LOLZ. Not exactly my style or aesthetic. But it was fun to wander and discover some cute new vendors. More or less it was just great to spend some time with those two đ
- I got a new 100 Day Devotional that came last Tuesday. My mom has done various Bible studies with the author and said she writes very well. So far I’m on Day 6 and I like the quick reads & prompted questions at the end of each ‘day.’ If you’re looking for something quick & light, I definitely recommend it.
- Just ordered a new Billie Razor. Because I’ve had mine since June 2019. Obviously I put on a new blade every 10-14 days. But I just wanted to refresh the razor itself. So I got the pretty coral color. I love how easy (& cheap!) the subscription is. And the razor itself is just as good as any other option on the market.
- You all are loving the lululemon oversized crewneck sweatshirts as much as I am. And it makes me so happy! Yes, they’re still a splurge. But so far every one of you that’s ordered has agreed. 10/10 recommend. Most of mine are a size 4 but my newest color (this pretty blue) is a size 6. I think sizing up another made it even more cozy!
The meal plan…
Ok, last but not least…this week’s meal plan. Honestly, I’ve been slacking in terms of creativity the last few weeks. And I’m giving myself grace for that. But I need to get back on track. So here is what is up on our menu:
-
- Meatless Monday – Pulled BBQ Jackfruit sandwiches with slaw, sweet potato fries
- Tuesday – Hearts of Palm Pasta, spicy Italian sausage & tomatoes in a Cajun Alfredo sauce
- Wednesday – Grilled Tilapia with TJ’s lemony Arugula Salad
- Thursday – Waffle Breakfast Sandwiches with fresh fruit
- Friday – Smashed Burgers (no onions, obvi) with macaroni salad
- Saturday – dinner date
