With today’s Monday Musings – Vol 26, we have officially hit the 6 month anniversary of this series! YAY! I’m so excited that y’all have loved it. Because it’s the type of post I love to write most! My first attempt at this was August 31, 2020. Which means I missed just a few Mondays since then! But that is life. Plus an IVF update or 2 was sprinkled in there 🙂
What Kyle is building me…
A garden! And by ‘building me’ I should say ‘building US.’ Because we know who is going to be doing most of the manual labor out there. And that is NOT me. But I will be using and cooking all of the veggies. What I expected to be a small-ish garden turned into 64 square feet of space. So I may need to learn how to can. Except that’s not my personality whatsoever. Though I admire those who do it! Right now the plan is to do spinach, lettuce, peppers, a variety of tomatoes and jalapenos. Because of the size, we may end up adding a few more. Any tips or tricks?! Send them my way!
The SUVs we have it narrowed down to…
First off, shopping for a new vehicle is a nightmare. It is exhausting. And if it were possible to hire someone to do it FOR me, I would. Because I just cannot handle most of the people we have encountered. Sure there are a few salesmen that have been great. But for every good one, there has been 3 bad ones. Luckily Kyle and I are on the same page in terms of features, budget, etc. However, this is going to be ‘my’ car. So he literally just test drives them for about 3 minutes and then I take over. Because in the end, I think he’d let me get whatever I wanted even if he hated it.
When we started our search, I basically used Edmunds.com and wanted to drive everything highly rated in the ‘Mid-Sized 3 Row SUV‘ category. Minus 2 of them. Because I could not get over the look/vibe of them. And those shall remain nameless to not offend anyone! I also added in the VW Atlas Cross Sport because the trunk space was HUGE. And we technically don’t HAVE to have that third row. Also, for reference, I hated a few. While a few others were ok at first. Then I crossed them off the list. So here is where we stand with our Top 3 {all 2021s}: VW Atlas, VW Atlas Cross Sport and the Ford Explorer. If you have questions on why, what else we drove, etc. just ask! Because I’m happy to elaborate on my feelings. Also, if you have any of those 3 — comment below & share your thoughts!
Our menu for the week…
Because it seems like some of you are actually finding me sharing these ideas helpful! And I’m here to do my part 🙂
- Meatless Monday – Chicken-less Orange Chicken over brown rice w/ snap peas & water chestnuts
- Tuesday – Balsamic & Honey-glazed Pork Chops with asparagus and Paleomg’s roasted carrots
- Wednesday – Pineapple (skinless) Brats with homemade sweet potato fries & wedge salads
- Thursday – Nanny’s (my late grandma) Taco Salads — I’ll share the recipe on my IG stories
- Friday – Smoked Wings with homemade macaroni salad and fried pickles
- Saturday – Take-out {I’m pushing for Blue because I’ve been craving sushi!}
Random Ramblings…
- Because I’m a ‘good blogger.’ And I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence if I didn’t share. So here it is: the cult-favorite AGOLDE shorts are 25% off. First, they’re my favorite. Second, they hardly ever go on sale. And lastly, they’re almost completely stocked in all sizes! So shop the short length HERE that I’ve had for 3 years or the current pair I’m eyeing (in black) HERE!
- So I’m out of shows to watch. Because that’s such an important topic. And I’m aware it’s very #firstworldproblems of me. But I can’t be the only one who feels like nothing new or decent has come out lately. Not to mention the Bachelor is over {Praise Jesus}. Despite me finding this most recent season terrible, it gave me something to mindlessly watch. So help me out — share your shows with me, please!
- Truly y’all shocked me yesterday. And that’s not an exaggeration. Because over 400 of you swiped up on the sandals I shared. But then again, I’m not entirely surprised. Especially since not just I love them…Kyle does too! That is why I think everyone needs a pair. And I mean a REAL pair: best selections of colors here!
And last few randoms…
- Overall the last few weeks have been a waiting game. Because I knew a few of you would be reading in deep detail for any sort of IVF update 😉 But don’t worry, I don’t blame you. And I’d want one too if I were on your side! So here it is: please continue to keep us in your prayers because the more prayer warriors we have, the better! And I promise that when there is real, genuine news, I will share it. Even if it isn’t what we hope.
- And lastly. But definitely not least. Because a Target round-up is never least… This was a hit on my IG stories yesterday, so I wanted to share it in a permanent spot. So many good Spring items out right now! And that means WARM WEATHER is on its way!

I had a 2020 atlas with bucket seats, and I loved it when I had one child. When I went from 1 to 3, I really struggled. I think unless you have a child that is capable of buckling and unbuckling themselves, and you feel confident that they won’t unbuckle while driving, then having a kid in the third row would be okay (I can’t imagine a child less than four back there). I traded mine in for a 2020 with a bench seat, and I like it WAY more! I had a Tiguan before these, abs I feel like the trunk space is similar in both once the third row is up. It’s nice you don’t have to have the entire row up, but I’ve found it’s difficult to have strollers in the back end, particularly the Thule single jogger and double jogger, with the third row up. My husband changed the brake pads on the Tiguan once and vowed I’d never get a German car again; therefore, he no longer does any of the maintenance (if that matters)!
This is SOOO helpful. The bucket seat vs. bench is one of our dilemmas! Not a chance Kyle will be doing any sort of maintenance on the car besides washing it 😉
