A sunny, not warm, Monday Musings – Vol 19 is up today. I guess if it can’t be warm we at least deserve clear skies! I’ve been trying to make an effort to GET DRESSED every day. Working from home makes it really easy to re-wear the same sweats & hoodie over, and over, and over again. My closet is too full for that bs. So even if it’s just another legging + crewneck combo, the goal is a new one each day.
What I started last Wednesday & picked up last Thursday…
Birth control. It is still so weird to comprehend that the first part to this process is birth control. Like uhmmmm we pulled that goalie (not bc, but you get the picture haha) a LONG time ago & now we’re putting one back in the game? I get it. But also, I still find it bizarre. 6 days in and so far, so good. Maybe my boobs are a little sore? Other than that I feel totally normal. Keep the prayers coming that I have no side effects from it, though! My last pill is February 2 and I have a baseline ultrasound + bloodwork scheduled for early on February 5. Tentatively plan on the calendar they gave me is stim shots — officially 225 units/day of Follistim — on the 6th. Picked up all the shots: follistim, 3 doses of Ganirelix, Progesterone-in-Oil (dreading these) + a trigger. And that’s all I have for a fertility update for the moment!
What the Eucalyptus in the shower is for…
I did not except so many, or any for that matter, questions on this eucalyptus trick after I posted it on my IG stories last night. Apparently Kyle isn’t the only one dealing with bad allergies at the moment. I’m sorry for that. Knock-on-wood but I really never have them. THANK GOD. Anyway, I saw this ‘hang an eucalyptus bunch upside down from your shower head’ idea a few years ago and have been using it for him ever since. This Healthline article does a better job of explaining the benefits than I do. Basically it helps clear up congestion (at least for a bit), relieves headaches and the scent can be a great stress reliever. I get ours from Trader Joe’s for $2.99/pack!
What we’re eating this week…
After the last 2 weeks of meal plans, I have gotten quite a few requests to actually share the recipes. I wish I had more to give y’all, but more often than not I follow NO recipe. Basically throwing things together, rarely measuring, is kind of my thing. 9.7/10 it works. Also, Kyle is the least picky person in the entire world so that definitely helps. Here are a few recipes with this week’s menu though:
- Meatless Monday – Pan-seared Falafel over top Mediterranean Salads w/ pita and smashed avocado
- Tuesday – Shrimp Fajita Bowls (I don’t follow any recipe for these, but this is about identical to how I always do ours!)
- Wednesday – Chili Lime Chicken Burgers (this is a great recipe if you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near!) w/ roasted veggies + a shaved Brussel Sprouts salad
- Thursday – Ground Turkey, Sweet Potato Skillet over Roasted Broccoli
- Friday – it’s FAMILY DINNER night at the Jenkins’ so the entrée is up to Erica. Rumor has it either Chicken Fajita Bowls or Chili 🙂
- Saturday – take-out
Random Ramblings…
- Not that I think we deserve a stimulus check, because I actually don’t (and by that I mean Kyle & I only – not speaking for anyone else), but I’m quite annoyed by the fact ours was ‘mailed’ on January 6th and we’ve YET to get it. Delivery of anything has sucked lately. I’m aware. However, I don’t love a significantly-sized check just floating around God-knows where. Anyone else still waiting on theirs?! *We got a direct deposit last time so NO CLUE why we are getting a paper one this round?
- The price of a plane ticket from Omaha to Detroit is INSANE. And it pissed me off. I want to go visit Cassidy, Josh & Georgia before I start stims but the $400+ price tag for a flight from one crappy airport to a larger, but equally as crappy, airport is asinine. Also, thanks Karen but if flights can be shoulder-to-shoulder then apparently it must be quite ‘safe’ to travel… 😉 I miss Georgia girl and I need to snuggle her, OK?!
- Binged Night Stalker over the weekend and yep, I’m still fascinated with the minds of serial killers. Super weird, I know. I just cannot comprehend the mental space they got to in order to do the things they did. If you’re into this type of documentary, I’d give it an 8/10. Only 4 episodes that are no longer than 45ish minutes each.
- Random: I have been craving chocolate for the last 3-4 days and NOTHING is satisfying it. I’ve tried Oreos, pieces of dark chocolate, chocolate coconut milk ice cream, cookie dough…none of it is making me go ‘ok, great.’ Send me your chocolate-y recipes ASAP, please!!!
- The newest Studio McGee for Target collection launched yesterday. Pretty much love it all. Which is great since quite a few items are already sold out. And her stuff doesn’t restock. UGHHH. Anyway, below is a round-up of some of my favorites. Hope you were able to get an order placed in time if you found anything you loved!
