Wow. What a week. Today is Monday, though waking up this morning I wasn’t sure what time/day/month it even was. Traveling does that to me. So do holidays. Combine them both & my mind seems to be slow to function properly. But that’s ok, it’s a new week. And I’m now 32!! Which means a special ‘Monday Musings – 32 Edition’ is in order. Instead of the usual flow, I’m going rogue. Sharing 32 random facts, statements and things I like. Since this is officially the last day of birthday month, I figured it’s only fitting to keep this post all about me. LOLZZZ. Side note: I did a THIS IS 30 post back in 2018 if you care to look back at how adorable I was before Botox…
1-10 Personal Stuff
- I was born at 5:10am on 11/29/1988 and I think that’s why I’m an early riser to this day.
- I’m a ‘Spring Break’ baby — loveee you mom & dad 😉 — so I think that’s why I’m constantly planning our next vacation.
- NO WE DID NOT WANT OR NEED A BROTHER. Being a family of 4 sisters was just fine by us. And we kind of get annoyed when people ask my dad if he ‘wishes he had a son.’ Haley, Cassidy, Janae & I are quite awesome actually.
- Kyle and I were friends for 3 years before I let him move out of the friend zone and into boyfriend status. He was very patient. To this day, his patience is one of my favorite qualities of his.
- You can’t ‘pick’ your in-laws, but if I could have I would’ve picked two people exactly like Kyle’s parents and the bonus sister I got when marrying him was icing on the cake.
- My mom started taking me Black Friday shopping (back in the good old days when stores opened at 4am) when I was 10 and the tradition stuck.
- In my dad’s speech at our wedding, he warned Kyle that I celebrate ‘birthday month’ and for that he was sorry. I am not though.
- No one was or is allowed to call me Kris, except my high school softball coach Tom. KB and Bre for everyone else.
- I got my nose pierced when I was 16. My mom took me but I had to pay for it. It took my dad 3 days to notice LOL. I now have 7 piercings.
- A tattoo was never something I thought I’d get. When Papa passed away, I booked an immediate appointment and will forever be happy with the decision to get something to honor him.
11-20 My Superficial Side
- Running didn’t become my thing until 2013. Proof that you don’t have to start super young to become passionate about something.
- I ran my first half marathon in May 2014 (1:57:49) and have since cut 13+ minutes off my time (1:44:40) all by myself. Breaking 1:40 should’ve happened this Spring but well…Covid.
- Leg day will always be my first choice. Working my arms will always be my last choice.
- I’d rather buy a $6,500 classic lambskin Chanel than a new vehicle.
- Makeup is not my thing. At 32 I still do not know how to put foundation on.
- When I first meet someone, I judge them based on how they put their outfit together not the brand they’re wearing or the quality of their clothes.
- An elaborate spa day with 2 close girlfriends will always be my choice over a large party with a bunch of acquaintances.
- My eyes are my favorite physical feature of mine. Calves would likely be my least.
- I have no probably skipping drinks the night before a long run. Priorities are priorities.
- Spring 2018 I started doing shellac on my nails and since then I get them done every 3 weeks. Bare nails (on myself) weird me out now.
21-30 Random Things
- Onions. HATE THEM. Literally they gag me. If you’ve followed me for more than 2 weeks, you likely knew that already.
- If the 5 fingers on my right hand were beverages of my choosing, I’d pick: water, diet lemonade from Chick-fil-A, cold brew, coconut water and Meimoi Pinot Noir.
- I binge read. Some months I read 3-4 books and then I’ll go 3-4 months without finishing one.
- Croatia is #1 on my travel bucket list.
- If I could go back to college I’d come out as either a lawyer or an Interior Designer.
- Kyle washes the dishes, I do the laundry. He mows, I decorate. We have a really good balance.
- Bunging jumping? Hellll no. Sky diving? Sure, why not.
- We have a joint account. Joint checking & joint savings. What’s Kyle’s is mine, what’s mine is his.
- Feminism is stupid to me. I’m a female. So what. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. My gender doesn’t stand in my way. My parents raised me to know no ‘glass ceiling’ and just because we haven’t had a woman President or a female NFL Commissioner doesn’t make me believe I couldn’t be either if I wanted to.
- Favorite movie: Tommy Boy / Favorite song: Fast Car (love every remix of it, too) / Favorite book: 1984 / Favorite food: peanut butter
Monday Musings – 32 Edition FINAL 2
- If I could have 1 super power, it would be to see the future. My OCD doesn’t like uncertainty and I’m a major Type A planner.
- I use to want 3 kids, but now with infertility issues I’d be happy with 1. Really though, I’d still be ok if 3 babies were a reality… Luckily I have 3 great nephews & 2 sweet nieces to hold me over.
