I think Sweater Weather is officially here. And if you can say sweater weather in anything other than Maya Rudolph’s tone from the SNL skit, than props to you. Because it seems like the days of warm, sunny goodness are behind us, I thought it only made sense to round up the 10 Sweaters You Need for Fall. Well lets use need loosely. Maybe it’s more like the ones I think should be closet staples… *Shoutout to Lizzie for this adorable graphic, by the way*
Despite being an unapologetic Summer lover, I can always get down with a good sweater. I mean cripes, I wear mine year round. Flashback to the archives and I had complete outfit blog posts dedicated to them: the infamous & incredibly itchy Elderflower sweater, an OMG it’s March (2017) and still sweater weather ballad, and a sweater + leather mini combo I’d still wear today (sub for cuter shoes). Now for the quick rundown of WHY I think these are the 10 Sweaters You Need for Fall. And remember, need is relative…butttt if you’re looking to see what your closet could use for the seasons, let this be your guide đ
Top 10 Sweaters You Need for Fall
- Grey Turtleneck – matches literally everything. Can be worn in the office with dress pants or on a road trip with leggings. The longer length is key!
- Hooded Coatigan – wear it today, tomorrow and every day until it warms back up. The hood gives it an even more causal vibe and the subtle ribbed detail makes it extra chic.
- Oversized Chenille – every closet needs something chenille. It’s like ultimate chilly weather material. Pick any of these slightly pastel colors and pair with white denim for a wintery look.
- Dropped Shoulder Knit – at this price you may as well buy it in every color. This is a throw on, wear anywhere sweater that will be on repeat.
- Green Tunic – the sweater you’ve seen everywhere. At $35 it’s hard to beat and the quality is shockingly really good. My suggestion is to pick a neutral but unexpected color in this style.
- Cozy Cardigan – for the days you’re not leaving your couch. Spend the extra $$ and get the real deal. I promise they’re worth it.
- Cropped Cardigan – throw on over a tank dress to get more wear or with a high-waisted denim + a loafer for a cute brunch look.
- Black Boatneck – the sweater of Fall 2020, in my humble opinion. I grabbed it in black, camel and sea forest (perfect transitional color). This will work for dressier events with a cute mini or leather pants, or simply with jeans and booties.
- Colorblock Pullover – you need at least one fun sweater in your closet. The colors in this one are vibrant but muted and the material is super soft!
- Bare Shoulder Turtleneck – date night go-to. Fall/Winter date nights are hard to dress for, so pair this with a great skinny, stiletto boot & a bomber jacket and you’re set.
