Is it bragging to celebrate your own milestones? Do you look down on people who talk about their achievements? Well hopefully your answers are at least somewhat of a no to both. Otherwise you may want to skip out on this Workout Wednesday – Milestones post. And that’s ok! I won’t be mad at you đ Personally, I’m a big fan of seeing people call out their badass’ness. Is that a word? You ran your first marathon? Damn, girl! Hit a weight loss go? Heck yes! You’re keeping 3 small children alive while trying to manage homeschool? PRAISE JESUS! Randomly I hit 3 pretty ‘major’ milestones within a 24 hour period. So today, instead of the usual answering of 3 questions, I’m hitting y’all with those. A sort of special edition if you will…

My Workout Wednesday – Milestones
1,000 Miles Ran
On January 1, 2019 I set a goal to run 1,000 miles in 2019. I hit that # on December 27. Nothing like just squeaking by. I ended 2019 with 1,009.5 total miles. I think I ran something like 12 races during that time period. Enter 2020. I had BIG ASS GOALS for myself in terms of running. One of them being 1,100 miles. And then COVID hit. All of my races were turned virtual or completely cancelled. Thankfully running itself wasn’t cancelled and I reconfigured my plans. Yesterday (October 21) I broke the 1,000 mark without even knowing it. Two months & change EARLIER than last year. No true race completes in those miles. You could say I’m shocked but also pretty damn proud. Grateful to my body, my legs especially, would be an understatement.
I get asked A LOT about how I got into running, when I started truly committing to being a runner, etc… Well I dug through the blog archives and found THIS POST FROM 5 YEARS AGO & THIS POST FROM JANUARY 2017 that talk about a little more about that. As you can see, my running journey has evolved. Drastically in ways. I too have been in the the injured/ ‘runner not running’ boat in the past. So just know, it’s never too late to start & there’s nowhere to go but UP!
200th Peloton Workout
Considering my 1st ever class via the Peloton app was a 20 Minute Slow Flow on 5/31 I’m pretty impressed that I hit the 200 class mark yesterday. Especially because I only took 2 more classes in June, both of which were yoga. It wasn’t until 7/17 that I took my first strength class. Now I’m up to 97 of those! {I did one last night after this screenshot LOL} As someone who never got into the Beachbody craze, I was hesitant to even try out an ‘on-demand w/ live options’ sort of thing. If one good thing came out of quarantine, it was me signing up for a free trial of the Peloton app. Fast-forward to now and I’m obsessed. Strength, yoga, cycling, you name it…huge, HUGE fan.
6 Months OUT of the Gym
This may seem weird to classify as one of my Workout Wednesday – Milestones but I’m proud of it because it’s been hard. REALLY hard. I absolutely LOVE the gym. Something about grungy barbells and loud music fuels me. So when ours shut down I was pissed. Now what? I had been making insane progress. Initially I figured that was all out the window. After Kyle’s blessing to make a few ‘home gym’ purchases, I created myself a little space. It’s far from fancy but it works. It also gave me back an extra hour+ of sleep. New alarm is 5:53am vs. 4:37am! Today marks a full 6 months out of the gym. But I’m proud to say I’m STILL strong. A bit leaner? Sure. But I can hold my planks longer and my core is better than it ever has been, so that’s worth something in my book!
Workout Wednesday Workout of the Week
CARDIO-FOCUSED
What you’ll *ideally* need – set of heavy, medium & light dumbbells. To make this easier, use lighter weights. Want something harder? Tack on a 1/2 mile run in between each AMRAP.
If you made it to the end of this, CONGRATULATIONS! I appreciate you reading my ramblings more than you may realize. Sincerely I do. Now tell me…what do you want to brag about yourself for?! Comment below. Send me a DM on Instagram. I want to virtually hi-five you! No matter what your milestone, big or small, may be…I hope you know that I am proud of you!

Š2021. A Midwestern Mix
Congratulations on all your accomplishments! I have been working out at home more too, thanks to some of your workouts I have gained so much strength AND I think I can see some abs forming!! đ silly question for you, why such random alarm times? 5:53 is so precise? Lol
Yay!!! That’s so great! And I have to have my alarm set at an odd time. Ever since I was little I’ve been weird like that đ
