It’s just another manic Monday… Which means Monday Musings – Vol 7 is in order. But seriously, today has been MANIC to say the least. 5 Zoom meetings BEFORE 1pm. At least my afternoon was a little more open so I could actually attack my inbox & to do list. Honestly, my weekend was pretty manic as well. Kyle and I spent about 10 hours total in the car between Saturday and Sunday. Although it was worth it to be able to sleep in our own bed Saturday night! Plus I actually don’t hate road trips too much, as long as my back cooperates.
What we did Saturday…
Celebrated Papa’s life. And buried his ashes next to Nanny. It was bittersweet to say the least. Absolutely heart-warming to see the turnout at the cemetery where so many Lambs have been buried, but equally devastating to relish in WHY we had to be there. The weather was perfect and the single verse of Amazing Grace we sang ensured there wasn’t a dry eye. Many told their favorite memory/memories and I did so as well. Most people don’t know this, but Papa was with my mom & I when I said ‘YES’ to my wedding dress. It was the look on his face that sold me on it. I never got that ‘ah-ha’ feeling in any I tried on, but the way his face changed when I came out in my dress told me this was it. Moms & sisters & grandmas with you dress shopping? Likely. In-laws? Usually. Friends? Maybe. Your Papa? Bet I’m one of the few 🙂 I am sad though. Really, REALLY sad still. I wish I could text him. That he could’ve met Georgia. Met our future kids. Someday. But instead, till next time…
What we did Sunday…
We witnessed Smith Douglas be baptized. That dude is a chunk. A thick nugget. Still no neck to be found. But DANG is he cute. It was so special to see him symbolically become a child of God. We were able to see Palmer & Campbell baptized in the same church too! The best part {besides his gnome outfit and Campbell + Georgia’s matching dresses} was having ALL SIX OG BREONS together. G dang it that was great. All in the same place TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Makes me even more excited for Christmas!
What I’m reflecting on…
Life. It’s significance, it’s briefness and it’s impact. The only thing that keeps my anxiety from hitting maximum overdrive is knowing that when it’s my time, I know exactly where I’m going. Papa knew Jesus. Nanny did, too. My parents and sisters do. So at least I know that in the end, we’ll all be together in a place where there is no more suffering or struggle. If it’s taken you until Monday Musings – Vol 7 to see Faith is important to me, then I am sorry. It’s one of very few things keeping my head above water. One verse that I keep repeating is Isaiah 40:29 – “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”
Random Ramblings…
- Why ‘Papa’? I’ve had lots of questions about why we called him that; people saying they love that even at 31 that’s how I refer to him. The honest answer is I have no clue. That’s what I’ve always called him. How I introduced him to Kyle. And Jason. To Erica & Ryan. Everyone. Shoot, even Kyle’s sister and parents call him that. So I guess I don’t know WHY but I know one day someone called him that and it stuck for us.
- Yes my parents are married/together. LOL this one makes me laugh. It’s been 32 years. My mom has been a stay-at-home-mom since the day I was born, so her ‘vacation’ allowance from ‘work’ is significantly more than my dad gets at DME. Plus mom hates flying. Since grand babies started arriving, mom’s trips up here have been more frequent {usually with Papa, actually} while dad has flown in/out for shorter periods. Like this week…mom drove up to my house Tuesday and dad flew into Omaha on Friday, then they rode back home together yesterday.
- Kyle and I have 5 nephews & nieces: Palmer, Campbell, Smith, Braxton & Georgia. The boys have family middle names (Chet, Douglas & Dow) as does Campbell (Leone). I guess Georgia technically does too, Ellen just like Cassidy. But besides Campbell — which was Nanny’s maiden name — none of their first names are for anyone or anything. I get asked a LOT about all of their names since they’re fairly unique I guess.
Bear with me, I’m almost done…
- On that note, yes Kyle and I have baby names picked out. Who knows if we’ll actually use the girls names we like, but there’s a 90% chance we use the boy name. And it fits very nicely with those 5 above 🙂 No, we are not expecting. Just to clear THAT up. Monday Musings – Vol 7…keeping it real 🙂
- Lots of questions on the sisters’ outfits from yesterday’s baptism, so here is the best I could do… My dress was from Statement Boutique but sold out {similar here & here}. Haley’s dress was from Old Navy. Cassidy’s long sleeve is only $10 + 20% off today & THIS is her skirt but in THIS print. Janae’s romper is Cotton On and currently on major sale!
