Thanks to Lexus of Lincoln, I finally ran the Good Life Halfsy!

Despite falling in love with running almost 6 years ago, I have yet to run a true Fall distance race. So when Lexus of Lincoln reached out with the opportunity to run for them, I didn’t hesitate. The idea of partnering with such a well-known brand and getting to do something I’m so passionate about paired perfectly. As soon as the commitment was made, I got to training. That part I knew I’d like. The part I didn’t realize was that I’d be so fond of was the most perfect SUV that I had the privilege of driving around for the training cycle.

The Good Life

A full training and race recap is coming very soon but for now I’ll keep it short and sweet. Starting a 12 week running plan in the hottest part of the Summer isn’t for the faint of heart. I learned to set my alarm for before dawn to get my long runs started, despite those coming on Saturdays, so I could beat the scorching sun and brutal humidity. One thing I did do differently than the Spring is add a true speed day once a week and it was great.

The course was net downhill and we got to weave our way through Lincoln with an awesome crowd. Lexus of Lincoln was the Pace Car/Pace Team Sponsor so I because I didn’t have much of a goal time in mind, I wanted to just stick with the 1:45 pacers. Who were freaking great, by the way. I successfully did that with a 1:45:13 official time. No PR, but a 10ish mile headwind for a good 7 miles of the course that only had me about 35 seconds from one confirmed that my training was solid. Even though I’m as far from a Husker fan as possible, I can definitely say I am a fan of the Good Life Halfsy and would absolutely run it again!

The Goods

Part of working with Lexus of Lincoln meant I got to drive {in major style} their new RX350. No one in my family has had a Lexus so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect of the brand in general. Lets just say every part of my experience, from the showroom floor to the inside of the vehicle was perfect. The team in Lincoln is amazing. Simple as that. Greg, the GM, was one of the nicest men I’ve ever met and he has clearly assembled a fantastic group of people at Lexus of Lincoln. Every person I encountered in the dealership was friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful! So I could spend ALL day gushing about the RX350 but instead of spending the next 4 hours explaining why I’m obsessed, I’ll keep it simple. It’s hands down the smoothest, most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever driven. I have been behind the wheel of numerous ‘luxury’ and ‘high-end’ vehicles and nothing compares.

If Kyle and I were in the market to buy today, we’d be down at Lexus of Lincoln in a heartbeat picking out our next car. Luckily, this Spring I’m due for an upgrade from what I currently have so he’s already aware that our first and only stop will be to visit Greg and his team. It’s more a matter of what I end up purchasing in Lincoln rather than if. I cannot thank Lexus enough for giving me the opportunity to run the Halfsy! I’m convinced I’ll be back next Fall! 🙂
