Another weekly workout recap coming at you today!
Most people hate Mondays–me included, usually!–but no one hates Workout Wednesdays, right!? Kidding. I’m sure many people loathe working out in general so the idea that this day is dubbed ‘Workout Wednesday’ by some is probably super annoying. I apologize. For those of you that aren’t annoyed, I’m sharing below what last week looked like for me!
Wednesday, March 22 – 5 miles + Abs
I’m not sure why but Wednesdays seem to be my best weekday runs, which is kind of odd since the prior two days are running ones as well. I wanted to do a steady 5 miles so I set the treadmill at 7mph and kept it that way the entire time. A little bit of a struggle mentally but I zoned out and it was pretty nice. Followed up the mileage with my favorite ab workout from Tone It Up that you can find HERE.
Thursday, March 23 – OrangeTheory
It was ANOTHER ‘Power’ day at OTF and those are killer. Basically it’s run, sprint, run, sprint, walk for 3 seconds, sprint, and sprint some more. So sweaty but after the treadmill block is finally over I always end up feeling like I’m not as slow as I look. 🙂 Outside of sprints, power classes consist of short bursts of distance on the treadmills and a lot of plyo-type moves on the weight floor. I could tell I was going to be sore immediately after class haha. Burning 637 calories and gaining 18 splat points made it all worth it!
Friday, March 24 – REST DAY
I go to bed Thursday nights so excited to ‘sleep in’ until 6:35am. I’ve come to really appreciate my rest days and take full advantage of being off my legs for a full 24 hours. Lots of foam rolling, stretching and icing went down to prep me for a fast run on Saturday.
Saturday, March 25 – 10k Run
So much for a fast run outside…ended up having to run my 6.24 miles on the freaking treadmill because it was down pouring when I woke up and the forecast called for rain all day. I absolutely love having a commercial-grade treadmill in our basement but I’m not going to lie when I say that I’m getting awfully sick of running on it every dang day. My pace is never as quick indoors and I feel like my window of outside running time is dwindling as the race is getting closer. Since I was annoyed about having to do my 10k this way, I played around with speed and incline to keep me from getting too bored and ended up with an average pace of 8:26 which isn’t terrible for me.
Sunday, March 26 – OrangeTheory
Endurance classes are my absolute favorite so when I walked into the gym I was excited to know it was finally an Endurance Day. And then I found out what that entailed and considered walking back out the front door. We had two separate 6 minute runs as fast as we could handle. For some reason those 6 minutes felt like 6 years. Of course in between those two longer blocks, there were plenty of shorter/quicker intervals so by the 2nd 6 minutes I was dead but of course I couldn’t go slower than the first one and risk the people next to me {who clearly weren’t paying any attention to me} think that I was slacking. By the time we hit the weight floor & rowers I didn’t have a whole lot of energy left! Despite feeling like I worked my butt off, I only burned 526 calories but did earn 23 splat points. Endurance days I always burn less calories but I’m less concerned with that and more with continuing to improve my lung capacity.
Monday, March 27 – 4.5 miles + Abs
Since Cassidy & I are 2 weeks ahead of our training schedule we decided to slightly back down our weekly mileage from 5-8-5 to 4.5-7-4.5 and despite only being a half mile shorter than the last two Monday runs, it felt like it flew by. Plus I was left with enough time to squeeze in two different ab videos before hopping in the shower and starting off the work week.
Tuesday, March 28 – 7 miles
Having to get up at 5:14am in order to take my pre-workout and stretch a bit before my long weekday run is kind of hard. Actually, it was really hard since it was raining and my bed was so cozy but I got my 7 in before 7am so I would call it a successful morning. The first 2 miles were tough but the last 5 were really smooth and I managed to finish in less than 60 minutes so my treadmill didn’t shut off on me. #winning
