On Fridays I wear pink.
I also have been wearing it every other day of the week lately as well. There’s something so subtle and feminine about blush tones and I cannot get enough. Branching out from my typical black, grey and white wardrobe, I’ve added so many soft pink tones to my wardrobe that one might mistakenly call my style ‘girly’ if they took a peak into my closet. Not that there is anything wrong with a girly style {I sometimes envy those who can pull off flirty dresses and flowy skirts on the regular} but it’s just not the usual adjective to describe mine. The Shopbop sale a few weeks back had me putting pinks in my cart like they were going out of style and this super cute, button-front Safari Skirt was one of those purchases. Any time I can get my hands on something that pulls double-duty in terms of being fine for the office and fine for anywhere else, it’s justified in my mind. On another note, the fact that we finally made it to Friday–after the longest week ever–makes me SO HAPPY. Tomorrow is Palmer’s 1st Birthday which means I’ll be heading up to Sioux City after my 10k in the morning to celebrate! YAY for nephew time!!! 🙂
Dressing it down.
It would’ve been super easy for me to style this skirt the way I would any other one: cami, caridgan, simple flats, but with the temps gradually creeping upward I wanted to lighten things up a little. These blogger-favorite wedges I was able to snag in my size about 2 months ago {super early for open-toes but I knew if I wanted I had to act quick!} and finally had the opportunity to slip into them. Plus I also got a pedicure last weekend so my feet don’t look as ratchet as before! 😉 While they’re not the same color, I thought the played well with the bubblegum tone of the skirt. My trusty white C/E tee was the ideal topper for a casual, Springy and youthful vibe from the entire outfit. You may not be able to tell but the material is actually a pretty sturdy denim which caught me a little off guard but I don’t think it’ll be too hot come Summer. Typically I follow the model’s sizing in something like this but I chose to go down to an XS and I’m glad I did because I still have plenty of room in the hip area. Definitely a fun addition for Spring and it comes in an equally cute sky blue option if pink isn’t your jam!
