Give me ALL the pink!
Growing up I was kind of definitely more of a tomboy than a girlie girl but despite being super active in athletics and always knowing what was going on in the world of sports, I also always loved clothes. While most of my friends’ high school attire consisted of extremely oversized Nike sweats and t-shirts from various tournaments with their last names and numbers on them, I gravitated more towards denim, sweaters and tunics. I cannot tell you how many times I heard ‘whyyy are you SO dressed up today?!’ in an exasperated tone from people while I was literally wearing a pair of Express jeans and a burnout long sleeve from the Buckle. Ok, just writing that outfit out makes me cringe but I’m hoping someone can relate to that stage! 🙂 Regardless of the faux-pas I succumbed to {think gauchos, heavily highlighted hair, etc.} I truly think I was finding my own personal style. Now I would say I focus a lot less on how everyone else is wearing certain trends and instead see if I want to or can weave a trend into my comfort zone. Clearly I gravitate towards more classic, casual-ish pieces that can be worn multiple ways and for multiple events; which is probably a pretty clear reflection of my actual personality as well: laid-back and not fussy. While I definitely wouldn’t say the color pink is necessarily a trend, it’s definitely having a moment and I’m obsessed. Despite never being a girlie-girl–and my definition of that could be totally different than someone else’s–I’ve always had a soft spot for every shade of pink. From a blush prom dress my Sophomore year to considering a fushia tone for my bridesmaid dresses, I really don’t think pink is ever a bad idea.
Luxe simplicity.
Who doesn’t want to feel pretty and fashionable? Now who doesn’t want to feel that way knowing that the cost of your outfit didn’t set you back a mortgage payment? Me! This entire look {minus the bag, dang it} is under $200 and none of the pieces are more than $88 individually. Uhmmm, obsessed. Just more proof that you don’t always have to spend and arm & a leg to achieve a put-together look. Assuming you think this looks put-together of course! 😉 This raw hem, slightly flare sleeved sweater from Zara has been on repeat ever since it arrived a few weeks ago. The bright pink is the perfect punch of color, especially on gloomy Winter days, and it’s incredibly soft. My favorite part of it has to be how lightweight it is. It’s great to wear now but I’m also already planning to pair it with denim cut-offs and wedges come Spring. Versatility is everything. Thrown over my favorite ripped jeans and bright white sneakers, this look is the ideal mix of casual and eye-catching. I’m also totally feeling like a rebel because this look has a ‘Dying for Spring’ vibe to it which is quite the opposite of what Mr. Groundhog’s prediction was yesterday. My fingers are crossed that the little guy was oh so wrong!
What is everyone up to this weekend!? One of my best friends decided to make a surprise visit to Omaha and he’ll be here late this afternoon. I’m SO excited! Basically there will be lots of catching up. And drinks. And I’m making him run 7 miles tomorrow morning with me, so wish us luck! xox
