#ThursdayThree is finally back!
For those of you that may have just recently started to follow along with A Midwestern Mix, I’ll give you a quick rundown. This weekly series is a quick snapshot of things I’m currently loving; especially in the past week. I try to focus on a food or recipe, something fitness-related and then something within the fashion realm or life in general. Pretty broad but also a fun way to share more about myself as well as hopefully giving you all a little inspiration to try something new! Now onto what is giving me all the warm-fuzzy {seriously though, Antarctic weather is back in full-force here} feelings lately…
#1 Smoothies in my Magic Bullet
I’ve always loved making smoothies for breakfast and trying out new combinations but kind of got away from making them because of the chilly weather but also because of my blender situation. We have a Ninja which I am a huge fan of but the process of cleaning it every day after making a simple smoothie was just getting to be way too annoying. Half the time I’d just put water into it after I was done and let it sit on the counter until later because I didn’t have enough time to scrub it out before I left for work. Then Kyle would come home annoyed that it was just sitting there so he’d wash it and complain about its size. #firstworldproblems Long story short for my birthday Kyle surprised me with a Magic Bullet which has proven to be THE BEST alternative. I’m still using the Ninja for plenty of bigger recipes but for my morning smoothie before work, this is so. much. more. convenient! With the New Year upon us, I’ve decided to start up the smoothie train again because they truly keep me full all morning long. Tuesday’s combo was spinach + avocado + mango + blueberries + coconut milk and today’s was spinach + avocado + strawberries + raspberries + coconut milk + chia seeds. Notice a slight trend? Avocado is my go-to for texture and a little extra punch!
#2 Daily Fitness Journal
My cousin Erika got me THIS fit journal as part of my Christmas gift and I’m obsessed. I loved it immediately and nearly forgot to look to see what the rest of my presents were! Oops! It’s simplistic yet super detailed and I get excited to fill it out every day. I think it’s a great way to hold myself accountable and it’ll be easy to look back on previous days/weeks/months to recognize any positive–or negative–trends! As someone who obsessively writes everything down {no blank piece of paper within my reach is safe from my writing or doodling!} this is the perfect outlet for me. I cannot recommend it enough and the size makes it perfect to throw in any purse or bag. Buy it for yourself, buy it for your sister, buy it for anyone who might be concerned about sticking to their New Year’s fitness goals. #3 Chloe Perfume
Every year for either my birthday or for Christmas I get a new perfume but these year I had an especially hard time picking out a new scent. Over the last 3 years I’ve stuck with Marc Jacobs but after getting sample sizes and smaller bottles of a few others, I knew I needed to make a change. I narrowed it down to 5 options and let my Mama pick. She did great with this Chloe Signature scent and I’m already obsessed. Since you can’t smell it through the computer and I feel like I’m horrible at describing it, I’ll just say that it smells SO GOOD. It’s subtle, not too overpowering and has a great mix of feminine & masculine touches to it. Everyone I’ve been around since wearing it says they approve so I think we have a winner! 🙂 With some Christmas gift cards I’m planning to snag her runner-up and all-time favorite Diptyque’s 34 Boulevard Saint Germain. The 5 that Mom chose from are below!
