Can’t beat cozy neutrals.
That sentiment couldn’t be more true to me. Especially given the fact that the weather in Omaha over the past week has barely hit double-digits and the wind chills have been below 0* more than once. This weekend is actually looking worse if that’s even possible! I guess I was spoiled spending the first two weeks of the month in Texas where a coat was barely a requirement. Since I’ve been home I have been layering up like crazy. One day it was a striped long sleeve tee, plaid and sweater combo while other days a thick sweater paired with some sort of huge blanket scarf was necessary. Thankfully at work I have an office that has a heat-dispersing panel right about my desk and one of my guys donated a under-desk space heater to my cause plus I have a Fair Isle throw over one of my chairs just in case…so staying warm in there hasn’t been too much of an issue. Nonetheless it is brutal when I walk out to my car at the end of the day so making sure my outfits are both cute yet warm & functional has been key. And since my go-to colors are black, grey, more black more grey and then some other neutrals, it is no shock that my layers are usually within the same color family. Keeping things simple keeps me happy.
This combination.
When ILYMIX reached out about collaborating and I saw that one of their biggest product lines was blanket scarves, I knew I had to accept. I mean one can never have too many obnoxiously large scarves that can pull double-duty as a blanket, right?! My collection is getting a bit out of hand, not because I’m not wearing them but because they take up a lot of precious closet space. So on a side note: how do you store your scarves?! Any space-saving tips you can share?! Ok, back to THIS particular geometric print scarf. Right away I was drawn to the unique pattern but also to the muted color palette. I knew it would match a wide variety of tops in my closet so the choice was not difficult. It’s super cozy and paired perfectly with this taupe sweater from last year. My OTK boots are last season’s style from Dolce Vita but this pair is nearly identical. I’ve honestly been so surprised by how much wear I’ve gotten out of these and how easy they are to walk around in. I would say they are definitely worth the price tag! Finishing off the look with white denim was a little outside of my norm but I loved how the entire outfit came together and had a very winter-y vibe!
ILYMIX is offering 20% off with code ‘AMIDWESTERNMIX‘ at checkout from now until January! A few of my favorite pieces currently are this double-sided blanket scarf, this adorable Pom beanie and this black & white wrap.
