Meet CABO!

Today’s #ThursdayThree is all about the rambunctious little dude that’s taken over our house, and our hearts, over the past few days. Instead of a food, fitness and fashion favorite, I am listing the top 3 ways that I can describe this ball of equal parts joy and terror. 🙂

#1 Adorable

It is no secret how cute Cabo really is. Just take a look at the photos above. He appears tiny, sweet and lovable. He is but he’s also ornery. He is a Yellow Lab according to his AKC Registration but his color is Fox Red. Kyle thinks he is going to end up being as dark as his ears or even darker. His dad, Capone, was the darkest/most red-colored Lab I have ever seen and his mom, Cash, was super dark yellow. I’m actually a big fan of this dark, unexpected color to look at but not looking forward to that color hair all over the house. Cabo has the most adorable expressions and his wrinkled forehead is too cute. Hopefully he carries the cuteness onto adulthood!

#2 Exhausting

When I got Beckett 6 years ago, he was already 15 weeks old and I was living at home so I had both parents and my youngest sister to help me keep an eye on him and train him. This time around, it’s just Kyle and I with Cabo. This week my office is undergoing a bunch of construction and we’ve had no connectivity which has forced me to work from home every day. Usually that would be awesome but with a new pup at home, it’s been a menagerie. You cannot let this munchkin out of your site for 2 seconds or he’s gone and I feel guilty putting him in the kennel while I’m here. I’m literally exhausted by the time Kyle gets home from work and I’m more than ready to turn the dogs over to him for the rest of the evening. I’m constantly chasing him up and down the stairs and feel like I’m getting a workout in that I didn’t sign up for! 😉

#3 Intelligent

Labs are incredibly smart dogs in general but Cabo is proving to be too smart for his own good already. He’s become a pro about exposing areas of the house that have dust bunnies {under the back end of the treadmill, behind the couches…} and pulling them out for me to witness my poor cleaning skills. He also realizes that if he bothers Beckett enough, Beck will give up whatever toy he was playing with or spot he was laying in to Cabo because he is just over it. We’ve taken Cabo on two short-ish walks and he seems to already be understanding the concept of heel. Kyle has gotten him to sit on command too which is awesome yet I swear he thinks his name is NO since that’s the word I keep having to tell him repeatedly. Super intelligent puppy but sneaky, opportunistic and stubborn also follow closely behind.

How have you trained a puppy quickly?! Any tips and tricks to share!? I’m welcoming any and all!! xox
