Can someone remind Mother Nature that yesterday was the first official day of Fall?
I think she may be drunk because today’s high is a crisp 90*. Really Autumn-like, right?! Ughhh. I’m a Summer lover through & through but I have some darn cute clothing items that I’ve purchased recently that I’d really like to wear instead of just look at. I am so over shaving my legs everyday to accommodate cut-offs and short dresses and I want to be able to walk outside of my frigid office building WITH my cardigan on. It’s also quite annoying that my car feels like a hot yoga studio each afternoon and I cannot eat an ice cream cone without half of it dripping down my arm. #thestruggleisreal Please don’t think I want warm, sunny days to go away for long; my body basically functions on lattes, long runs and regular exposure to my BFF, the Sun.
Making the best of it…
Since it doesn’t look like it’ll be possible to wear ponchos, cozy turtlenecks and OTK boots in the very near future, I’ve chosen to make the best of the weather and dress as transitional as possible. Introducing Fall colors into my more Summery wardrobe is the first way that I can get a little bit of the fix I’m craving; and burgundy/wine/aubergine is once again my color of choice. I have a soft spot for navy, army green and dark camel as well but up first was my attempt to bring a little wine into my look. {On a side note, I’m also ready to put away the Rose & open up my red bottles too!}
Started from the bottom.
‘Now we here.’ Sorry, had to. But that’s truly where I started when I built this outfit. I picked up this pair of Paige denim last Fall while in New York and I actually forgot about them. When I saw them back on the Nordstrom website I was like ‘score! I have those!’ Kind of embarrassing but also exciting to realize I had something new-ish to wear. If you’re eyeing a dark burgundy jean, I cannot recommend these enough. They’re super soft, really stretchy but keep they’re shape and go with a lot more than you might think! For a last minute happy hour downtown, I paired them with my go-to white tank {have it in 3 other colors and am obsessed} and a dusty-colored heel. It was the perfect casual outfit with a touch of Fall.
In Palmer news…he slept from about 9:45pm until 4am when he stared at me wide-eyed and smiling. I laid in on my chest for 20 minutes and he was out so I popped him back in the crib and he slept until 6:45am. Not bad for his first night away! Right now he’s having some tummy time and I’m trying to teach him to give me a high-five. Shouldn’t be hard for an almost-6-month-old, huh!? 😉 Happy weekend, loves! xox
