It’s Maxi season!

Because I wasn’t gifted in the height department I tend to avoid maxi dresses. They usually swallow up my frame & figure and require me to wear 4″+ heels in order to not drag excessively on the ground. Not my favorite combination. I’m quite often disappointed by this issue because I seem to find the cutest prints and styles when I’m out shopping but it never fails that I try on something I really like only to discover it needs a good 6″ cut off. While I know it doesn’t take more than a few minutes to run to a tailor and drop off a dress, that amount of effort for a cheap F21 maxi is not worth it. So instead I sulk and it acts as another reminder why I find it very unfair that 2 of my younger sisters are 4″ taller than me. Life isn’t fair! 😉 I want maxi dresses to be my thing so bad but ‘fetch’ didn’t happen maybe this won’t happen either. I love the idea of these floor-length beauties for 2 major reasons.

Shaving your legs isn’t required.

Honestly, the biggest buzzkill when the weather warms up {in my humble opinion} is making sure your legs are smooth. I mean, sometimes I just don’t FEEL like shaving my legs ok. Not sorry about it. The idea that I can stay cool & chic in a maxi dress while hiding the fact that it’s been a day, or 2, or 3, since I used that razor is A-MAZ-ING!

Flatter or hide or figure, it’s up to you.

We all have days where we are just over our bodies and want to throw on something to cover ourselves up. Enter the Maxi. Instead of putting on sweats, these can serve as a trendy alternative yet they can disguise as much as you want. Instead of frumpy & unbecoming like the husband’s oversized sweats, we use words like breezy & flowy to describe loose-fitting maxi dresses. Way better adjectives for sure! Plus, those caftan-like styles in gauzy fabrics are effortless and pay homage to my queen of fashion: DVF. *Hello praise hands emoji!* On the opposite end of the spectrum, for days you feel like you’re owning shit, a curve-hugging maxi {OBSESSED with this one} can make you look like a star.

You have literally a thousand & 1 options to choose from.

Do a quick Google search for ‘maxi dresses’ and I guarantee you return thousands of options. Whether you’re budget is $20, $200 or $2,000 or whether you’re looking for something strapless, long sleeved or spaghetti-strap, the sky is the limit. I know this very well because I’ve searched high and low for options that work for me personally. Then I saw THIS high-low maxi dress available in every color of the rainbow, I knew I had to have it. The cut guaranteed it at least wouldn’t be too long in the front and I loved how easy it looked on the model. Picking a color proved to be the most difficult decision but I’m so glad I ended up going with my gut and purchasing Candy. It’s clearly more of a neon coral in photos and it’s an even prettier hue in person! I’m honestly considering getting it in the Azure too. It’s a bit see-thru but YOLO. Nothing nude boy shorts & a strapless bra can’t solve but if you’re a little less daring, you could easily wear some kind of slip. I’ve already gotten quite a bit of use out of it: as a swimsuit cover-up, for date night, and to Church with a denim jacket over top. With the neon color, I kept my accessories minimal but also envision styling it with a cool body chain to play up the Grecian vibe!

Here are a few of my current favorites at various price points: one, two, three, four, five, six {this one is at the top of my wish list!}.
