Easy outfits make me happy.

The easier the better, really! I sincerely love finding pieces of clothing that are easy to match and to style as well as are easy to wear. Anything that requires unusual undergarments or is hard to get on & off by myself is not usually something that ends up in my closet. Sure there are exceptions to that rule but 9/10 times my tops can be worn with one of my two favorite bras, this one or this one, and a simple pair of lace boy shorts. When I have to put effort into what goes on under my clothes, I end up easily annoyed. I mean, it is hard enough to figure out what to wear that I don’t need anything else to worry about!

A subtly sexy trend I can get on board with.

Defining your own personal style is a lot more difficult than it may seem. Sure YOU know what you like, what fits you, how you feel in something but it’s also hard to stop yourself from grabbing things straight off the mannequins or going out and buying an exact replica of an outfit you saw in a magazine or on a major blogger. I’ll be the first to put my hand up and say that I’ve been guilty, more times than I can count, of purchasing something because of how cute it looked on someone else despite me knowing full well that it wasn’t something that was ‘me.’ I thought emulating someone else’s style would translate the exact same way on me that they intended for themselves. I was wrong. I’ve learned from those past mistakes and now I am much more aware of what trends and styles truly align with my personal preferences. At times that may mean waiting a while to jump on the bandwagon until I find a way to wear it MY way and that’s exactly what happen with the lace-up trend. I challenge you to walk into any store or browse online and not find a significant selection of lace-up items: shirts, dresses, bodysuits, etc., they’re everywhere. I initially was indifferent to the look but the variations started to grow on me and I tried finding a top that wasn’t too low, too wide open or too overstated. This basic, uber-soft taupe top from Lulu’s checked all those boxes. The lace-up trend can be completely awful if done wrong but I love the subtle sexiness vibe that it can give off when done right. Showing just a little skin can go a long way.

Hot day, hot outfit.

Omaha saw temps in the mid-80s last week with hardly a cloud in the sky. That meant it was time to give my denim a break and let my legs breathe a little bit. While the idea of wearing shorts gives me anxiety every. single. time. I tend to suck it up and wear them anyway. These black cutoffs from Free People are super cute but also WAY shorter than I’m really comfortable with so I only where them when I know there won’t be a ton of people debating whether I am too old to wear them! 😉 I paired the lace-up top these shorty shorts for a quick lunch and actually loved how it looked together. Instead of a typical cotton shirt & denim, this gave a bit more interest to an otherwise super simple outfit. After I added this top to my closet, I had some more luck and recently picked up this dress and this long sleeve that I’m looking forward to styling soon!
