Hallelujah, Wide-legged Pants are back!

I know I’ve said time & time again about how much I love dresses/rompers because they make such an easy outfit, and I stand by that opinion 100%, however a new love has {re}entered my life. I’m not entirely sure when that last time I wore wide leg pants was but I vividly remember a pair of light denim that looked nearly identical to this pair that I was obsessed with. As someone who isn’t known for slim thighs or height, it took a long time for me to accept the way I look in skinny jeans {or anything fitted for that matter}. Of course now that I have like 30, no joke, pairs of skinny jeans, wide leg pants are back. Totally fine by me, though! Anything and everything that I can do to hide some imperfections and I’m on-board. Combine the looseness of the style with the super trendy high-waist look and it’s a match made in heaven for someone like me. I swear I feel like I’m 6″ taller when I wear this silhouette!

Add stripes to any article of clothing & I’m sold.

It’s kind of sad but incredibly true. I’m not sure why I’m so drawn to stripes but thick, thin, vertical, horizontal, black, white, you name it I’m a fan of them. Maybe because stripes are super simplistic and I feel like that strongly defines my style, I am always adding items to my closet that are striped. The moment I saw these pants, from the Cupcakes & Cashmere line, added to Shopbop’s website I immediately scooped them up. I’m head over heels for Emily Schuman’s designs–especially this dress, this tank, and this romper. The material is soft, flowy and oh so comfortable. They’re cool and sophisticated but not overly fancy. I’m also really loving how lightweight these are because Summers in Omaha can get super humid and wearing pants is nearly impossible. One thing that I didn’t pay attention prior to ordering, but so glad to have noticed once they arrived, was if they had a lining. They do! Thank goodness because nothing is more annoying having to wear a certain pair of underwear so it doesn’t show through the bottoms you’re wearing!

Day to Night, you’re set.

I first wore these striped pants in San Diego for a dinner of chips & guac, spicy margs and street tacos. Unsure of how cool the evening would end up, I brought along my well-loved denim jacket to layer over a basic blank tank to keep the look minimal. Surprisingly enough I don’t have to wear wedges or heels with these pants but am able to when I want. With the versatility these present, I am already thinking of a chambray and slides for an easy brunch look as well as lace-ups and a crop top for an upcoming wedding reception. I’ve already added a few more wide leg pants to my ‘Wish List’ that you can find here, here, here and here!
