I’m someone who typically wears minimal jewelry. About 75% of the time you’ll find me accessorizing my outfits with what I dub my ‘essentials’ that include my wedding ring, pearl & diamond studs, this Infinity ring, and a gold bar necklace that Kyle had engraved with the coordinates of Anna Maria Island {where we got married}. It’s not that I don’t like pretty jewels, I just tend to let my clothes take center stage. Every once in a while I’ll find a statement necklace that I’ll wear on repeat, like this one that I never get sick of, or you’ll find me layering on dainty rings or bracelets, but that is not a common occurrence. So when Leah Buller, founder of Haute Bauble, reached out about collaborating I was super excited. Leah is a fellow Nebraskan that I had the pleasure of meeting at an event a few months ago. I was instantly drawn to her genuine personality and absolutely adored her sense of style. She exuded a type of chic, timeless style that appeared so effortless. Talk about girl crush! In the spirit of supporting local businesses, female entrepreneurs, and individuals who have a passion about what they do, I was honored to be able to select a few pieces from her collection to share with you all today! This necklace stood out to me immediately; simple & gold, right up my alley. Though I’m wearing it alone in these photos, it looks equally as cute layered with my personalized gold bar. The Brass Arrow Ring is great because it’s adjustable and easy to wear on any finger, plus it’s right on trend. And these earrings?! Fabulous! They’re a bit larger than what I usually go for but they make a subtle statement that pair just as perfectly with a plain white tee as they do with a dressy blouse.
Now lets get to know the fabulous woman behind Haute Bauble, Leah:
Share a little bit about yourself: I am a wife and mother of two and graduate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. I love all fashion and I love vintage fashion. It’s so fun to try and come up with interesting ways to incorporate vintage into your looks. I love wearing and owning items that no one else has and vintage lends originality to an ensemble. I graduated with my BA in Journalism so I also enjoy writing, blogging and reading. My new thing is listening to podcasts…I am totally addicted to Serial and #Girlboss. I love statement making jewelry, quirky pieces or kitschy things. I think fashion should be fun and a great way to show your personality is through an edgy pair of earrings or a cool necklace.
Why ‘Haute Bauble’ and how did you get started? Haute Bauble began out of a love for vintage jewelry. I had been obsessed with learning about vintage costume jewelry, the different designers and styles. After I had acquired a pretty good collection I realized I wasn’t really wearing it and I had basically become a hoarder so I started selling pieces on Etsy and was bit by the E-commerce bug. I found some interesting vintage components and started making some simple necklaces and the occasional earring and I just really loved it. It quenched my thirst for the “vintage treasure hunt” and allowed me to make a little cash so I could buy more vintage jewelry. Since then it has grown into a small business. I look at Haute Bauble vintage as a minimalistic approach to a vintage look that fits in well with today’s trends.
What is your vision & future plans? Right now, I am just starting to grow this little business, but very slowly. I still want to be available to my children. They will only be little once. I have some plans for the future mostly pertaining to new jewelry designs, possibly some collaborations and an ambassador program I plan to bring about this spring. I don’t want to say too much because it’s all in the works and you never know…things can change at any moment. Online marketing is a fast moving machine and you never know when you might need to take a turn in a different direction.
