Growing up as the oldest of 4 girls, I sometimes took for granted how great it was to have 3 built-in best friends. I went through a {short} stage of thinking I was a little too cool to hang with them but MY-OH-MY have times changed. Now, instead of sharing big news or the latest gossip/drama with my friends first, I pick up the phone and call one–or all–of them to spill the details. After moving to Omaha 4 years ago my 2nd sister, Haley, moved into our apartment with us; and despite her strong inability to keep her room clean, it was a lot of fun. Sure there were a few {ok, a fair amount} arguments, but overall those 18 months brought us so much closer together.
When my parents found out they were relocating to Texas with my youngest sister (Janae), the 3rd Breon girl, Cassidy, put in a roommate request to Kyle and I for the Summer months. Saving her an 800 mile move to/from Denton within a span of 90ish days, she became a temporary Nebraskan. While being super helpful with cleaning, cooking, and hanging out with Beckett during her days off, she has also been the best workout partner, sounding-board, and errand-running buddy I could’ve asked for. Cassidy has also become quite famous for showing up anywhere and everywhere wearing an entire outfit–sans the undergarments–directly from my closet.
Today, Cassidy moves out. I am so happy for her to head back to Vermillion to start her Senior Year at USD and begin her student teaching stint. I am so happy that the next roommate she’ll have is her Fiance, Josh, come next Summer. And even though I am so happy for this next chapter and stage of her life, I am also selfishly sad. I’m really going to miss having her bunk with us. 🙁 (To be honest, Beck may miss her most because his favorite thing to do now is lay in front of her door and wait for her to come out!) Much like we did for months after Haley moved out, I’m sure the guest bedroom will continue to be referred to as ‘Cassidy’s’ room for days to come.
In honor of 3 wonderful months under the same roof, I thought it only appropriate to get her involved in some photography fun. Much like I ask her 10x/day, I’ll say it again…if she just wants to live with us forever, that would be ok with me!
