Midi skirts have been all-the-rage lately but I’ve been a bit shy to accept the trend when it came to my own wardrobe. Usually pieces that hit anywhere between my lower knee and high ankle make me look even shorter (and more stocky) than I already do. Like most people, I tend to gravitate to bottoms that make me look longer & leaner, not the opposite. Wanting something work appropriate that wasn’t my typical pencil skirt, I decided to give this cream pleated midi a chance and I’m so happy I did. The material is a polyester/viscose mix making it incredibly comfortable, and there is a solid lining underneath so you don’t have to worry about any see-through moments! Purchasing this in such a light color made me a little uneasy but I love how it matches everything.
While back in small town, Iowa at my in-laws for the 4th, I thought this outfit would be the perfect contrast to the very farm-like setting. I absolutely love how the cream is so bright against the country backdrop! To keep things from being too fancy, I added a simple navy v-neck tank and bright coral wedges. The wedge was the perfect shoe to keep from sinking into the grass & gravel, too. Tying it all together with my {current} favorite cuff and my playful Star Mela clutch allowed a youthful vibe to shine through. One of my favorite things about this skirt is how easy it can transition to the office with a cute blouse or how it is able to go to a summer BBQ paired with a solid crop.
Here are a few more midi skirts that are on my radar: one, two, and three!
