Olive this dress! 😉
Yeah, that was cheesy I know. But I do! I really LOVE this olive dress. Slip dress are so ‘in’ right now and this one is no exception. The simple fact that it comes in comes in 7 solid colors, a few patterned options and is under $60 makes it the perfect piece for the Summer heat. I’ve been a fan of the Topshop brand for a few years now and regardless of what I’ve purchased from their line, the quality has always been outstanding. I have tops, dresses and sweaters from past seasons that are still in great condition–huge bonus in my book! With a thick lining I don’t have to worry about anything showing through and the strappy back adds interest to an otherwise incredibly simple silhouette. The only slight downfall is that there isn’t much stretch, which is fine everywhere except around my thighs where it’s a bit snug; {damn softball player legs!} so if you prefer a loose allover fit, I suggest going a size up {I’m in a US 4 for reference}. A fun twist is to wear the dress backwards so that the straps accent the front instead–just cut out the tag like I did so you don’t irritate the sensitive skin on your chest!
An unexpected but refreshing color.
Despite the fact I have green eyes, I hardly own anything green. Seems counter-intuitive since I actually really like the color and it seems to compliment my skin tone {note to self: buy more green!}. These Summer months typically call for bold colors and bright hues so I had some hesitation when choosing this particular color. I wondered if it was too dull for the expected palette of warm weather but I decided to go for it and am so glad I did. Since it is a calmer tone, I will easily be able to transition it into cooler temps with booties {obsessed!} & an oversized cardigan {major steal!–bought it in 3 colors} or a faux leather jacket + OTK boots.
This look ended up being perfect for a coffee run and Church yesterday morning since it was already pushing 90* by 10am. I did add this lightweight cardigan over top to make it feel a little more conservative and it proved to be a smart decision because the sanctuary was freezing cold the entire service! Because it is so versatile, I have the black version in my cart at the moment as well. My only reason for not pulling the trigger is because I’m positive pretty sure my Nordstrom card is still smoking from how much it’s been using over the past 5 days of the Anniversary Sale. Speaking of the sale…anyone else feel like they spent their month’s income stocking up for Fall? I know I do. Below are 5 of my favorite things under $50:
Also, how cute are THESE leather earrings?! If you haven’t heard of Nickel & Suede I highly recommend checking them out! They offer lightweight, statement leather earrings at an incredibly affordable price. Anyone else love wearing a noticeable earring but hate how heavy most of them are? That problem will forever be solved with these. I promise. Thank me later! 🙂
